Prof. Dr. Taner Yılmaz

He started to work as a specialist in Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Otorhinolaryngology. He was appointed as an assistant professor in the same clinic in 1998.

He became associate professor in November 2000 and professor in April 2006.

I have been the Head of the ENT Department since March 2013.

Patents:

• 2010 A LARYNGOSCOPE PATENT (Registered by Turkish Patent Institute, dated 02.09.2010 and numbered 2010/07321): I designed a laryngoscope that facilitates surgery in the posterior half of the larynx by keeping the intubation tube in front, and got a Turkish, Chinese and European, German patent.
• 2012 Epiglottis holding forceps: I designed a forceps to hold the epiglottis cartilage folded into the larynx during direct laryngoscopy and prevent it from curling into the larynx, and it received a utility model certificate from the Turkish Patent Institute and Germany.

He has been working on laryngology and voice surgery since 2000. I took part as an invited speaker in many international meetings on voice and larynx problems and represented my country and university. He defined five different surgical techniques and added them to the world literature.

He performed Turkey's first laryngeal reinnervation surgery in February 2018.

He qualified to enter the English Department of Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, ranking second in Turkey according to his science score in the 1984 Student Placement Examination; In the same exam, he was third in Turkey in terms of science-mathematics scores and fifth in terms of equally weighted scores.

He attended Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA as an AFS student in the 1984-85 academic year and received his diploma. Due to my successful studies in Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine English Department Term IV, He was awarded the Honor Prof. Dr. Zileli Award.

He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine on July 31, 1991, with a GPA of 3.54 as the second in the term and the third in the faculty. He won my first choice in the Medical Specialization Exam in September 1991 and earned the right to specialize in Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Ear Nose and Throat. He completed his residency in January 1996 and became an Ear Nose and Throat Diseases specialist.
