Prof. Dr. Necati Örmeci

He was born in 1952 in Senarkent district of Isparta.

After graduating from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1976, he started to work as an assistant at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine in the same year. He became an "Internal Medicine Specialist" in March 1980. After completing his military service, he started his assistantship at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine Gastroenterology Department in May 1983.

He was appointed as "Gastroenterology Specialist" in 1985 and as "Assistant Professor" to the Gastroenterology Department in the same year.

By winning the "MONBUSHO Scholarship" opened by the Japanese Government, she increased her knowledge and experience, especially on diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasonography, at Tokyo Women's Medical College Hospital between October 1985 and December 1986.

He became an "Associate Professor" in the Department of Gastroenterology in 1988.

He attended the "Advanced ERCP course" in England in July 1990.

He gained a scholarship from TÜBİTAK in 1990 and increased his knowledge and experience in gastric cytology and histopathology, and diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy at Tokyo National Cancer Center.

He was appointed to the "Professorship" in April 1994.

In July 1999, he worked at the Cleveland Clinic Florida to increase his knowledge and experience.

Between 2006-2009, Department of Internal Medicine. He presided.

He was elected as a full member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) in 2012.

He served as the President of the Turkish Gastroenterology Association between 2013-2015.

During his presidency, he competed with 5 countries for the World Gastroenterology Congress to be given to Turkey and ensured that the meeting was held in Istanbul in 2019.

Between 2015-2017, she represented the Turkish Gastroenterology Association at the "Natioanal Societies of Forum" at the European Gastroenterology Association.

In 2015, the annual APASL (Asia Pacific Associated Study of Liver) liver association

He contributed to the holding of the ordinary congress in Istanbul. In 2018, the APASL Single Topic Conference was held in Istanbul.

He developed the percutaneous treatment method for hydatid cyst and brought it to the world literature under the name of "Knitting Technique".

He was a board member of APASL between 2015-2019.

Between 2016-2019, he was the Head of the Medical Specialization Board Curriculum Formation and Standard Setting System (TUKMOS) Gastroenterology Department.

He served as the "Honorary President" at the World Gastroenterology Congress held on 22 – 24 September 2018.

In 2019, he was elected to the board of directors of the International Portal Hypertension Working Group.

He served as chairman and speaker in many domestic and foreign congresses.

He contributed greatly to the signing of the inter-university cooperation protocol between Lanzhou University (People's Republic of China) and Ankara University.

He served for nearly 30 years at the Ministry of Health Medical Devices Agency and the Unlicensed Medicines Commission.

As of November 26, 2019, he became an Honorary Member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences.

As of November 26, 2019, he retired from Ankara University Gastroenterology Department.

He is still working as the vice rector in charge of Health and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Istanbul Health and Technology University.
